Madkates has been more than a coffee shop to us; it’s been a dream over 20 years in the making.

The name Madkates comes from two of our daughters, Madison and Katelin. From the very beginning, we wanted this brand to be about family, tradition, and the joy of gathering around a cup of coffee.

My own love for coffee started with a single cup, shared with my now father-in-law. We sat together, talked about life, and I realized coffee was more than just a drink — it was a bridge between people, a moment of connection, and a way to slow down in a fast-moving world.

Later, when Sonjia and I began raising our family, coffee became part of our own ritual. After putting both girls to bed, we would brew a fresh pot, sit together, and talk late into the night. Those quiet moments, just us, a warm cup in hand, and the comfort of slowing down, are the heart behind Madkates.
